Bio:

Benoît holds a master’s degree in Computer Science and a bachelor’s degree in Informatics from KU Leuven, where he specialised in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. His research in Leuven centred around syntactical representation learning and multimodal architectures for audio description.

During his studies, Benoît has broadened his perspectives through exchanges at Télécom ParisTech and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and an internship at Purdue University. He conducted research on AI for medical applications in both industry and academia, improving the statistical robustness as well as the interpretability of machine learning models.

Prior to joining the CDT, Benoît worked for Port of Antwerp-Bruges, where he designed and implemented vision and NLP solutions for stakeholders across the port. Previously, he was an intern at the Apple Developer Academy in Naples, bridging his technical expertise with user-centric design to develop novel ML-driven applications.

PhD research:

Benoît’s research lies at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Human-Computer Interaction, and AI Governance. It investigates how humans and AI systems can collaborate in hybrid teams, particularly in the context of asset management. Focussing on relevant real-world applications, his research studies how NLP and Generative AI can improve efficiency while increasing trust and trustworthiness. Benoît’s work is funded by Aberdeen Group PLC through the Centre for Investing Innovation.
