We have set up four opportunities to talk with some of the CDT team about any questions you have related to the CDT and your application.

We have three webinars that potential applicants can register for:

* Note that this final webinar is being run as part of the University of Edinburgh’s Postgraduate Virtual Open Days, and you need to register via the link and browse to “Computing and Informatics”, where you will see our session on the list that appears.

If you would like to discuss the CDT in person, then please consider coming along to the Informatics PhD Fair on the 12th November, where we will have a stand and several of the team will be available to discuss applications and answer any questions you have. You can also review recordings of webinars from previous years below. Please note that the application process has changed for the 2027 studentship competition compared to previous years. However, key information related to the scope of the CDT, its ethos, and broadly what we look for in applications is the same.

Previous webinars:

2026 studentships

2025 studentships

We held several online applicant Q&A sessions in November / December 2024 for our 2025 studentships (Cohort 2). These sessions were recorded and can be accessed below. The presentations are in the first 20-30 minutes, and the Q&A sessions with attendees after this:

2024 studentships

We also held two webinars for potential applicants for the 2024 CDT cohort on the 12th and 13th February 2024. The recordings of these two sessions are below – while some details have changed, much of what is covered will still be relevant for the 2027 CDT cohort.
